THREAD IN A STRANGE COUNTRY
An extract from the rewiew
Plesure & commitment at Galleri Index, Stockholm (groupshow)
I raise my gaze from the video and realise why i have come here. It is for
Marcus Hanssonīs sake. An artist not familiar to me. Four large colour
photographs: "syprover-sew samples".
He seduces me with his needle and yellow and green thread, he draws
me into his woven web.
He sows together various material, binding together the door and the carpet,
allowing the thread to hang loose around the door. Like an open wound,
stitches in a surgical scar. He sows together the window of a caravan, setting a
yellow grid across the pastoral, loops his thread around horses necks printed
on a picture or wallpaper, he restrains reality and hangs several people in a
dark room whith a view of an airport. Strange, mad photos that absolutely
require a separate exhibition. These four are part of a suite of 25. Show them!
